An Ibom Air passenger, Miss Comfort Bob Emanson, has been arraigned before Magistrate Court 18 in Ogba, Lagos, on a five-count charge after allegedly assaulting two crew members and damaging aircraft equipment during and after a Lagos-bound flight.
The incident occurred on Sunday, August 10, 2025, aboard Ibom Air flight LANS13 from Uyo to Lagos. According to police reports, the trouble began when Emanson, 26, refused to comply with instructions from flight attendant Juliana Edward to switch off her mobile phone before take-off — a standard safety requirement. Efforts by another passenger to persuade her were unsuccessful.
Upon arrival in Lagos, the suspect reportedly waited for other passengers to disembark before confronting Edward again, allegedly stepping on her foot and slapping her. She was also said to have assaulted another crew member, Jokpame Sajun, by hitting her in the face with slippers.
The fracas resulted in damage to the curtain separating business class from economy, and the suspect allegedly grabbed a fire extinguisher in an attempt to strike anyone in her way. Airport security personnel intervened and handed her over to the police.
Following investigations, Emanson was arraigned on Monday, August 11, 2025, before Magistrate Salami on charges including assault and malicious damage. She pleaded not guilty, and the case was adjourned to October 6, 2025, for hearing. She has been remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfillment of her bail conditions.
