The Anambra State Police Command has announced the safe recovery of 13-year-old Anayo Stephen, who was allegedly abducted in Imo State and later found in Ideani, Anambra State.
According to police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Anayo, from Ubaha-Akparu community in Ideato Local Government Area, was taken on August 9, 2025, while fetching grass for goats. He told police that four young men in a Hilux vehicle approached him under the pretext of asking for directions before allegedly abducting him to an undisclosed location.
The boy said he escaped while his captors slept in the bush and was found by local vigilantes at Ideani Junction, where he narrated his ordeal.
The Command has called on the public, particularly residents of Ideato LGA, to help identify the boy and facilitate his reunion with his family.
