Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has donated a total of ₦25 million to support educational and health institutions during a visit to Bauchi State on Friday, August 8, 2025.
Obi, who described education and healthcare as “the two most critical pillars for building a strong and prosperous nation,” said the donations were aimed at strengthening infrastructure, training professionals, and ensuring no child is left behind in the quest for quality learning.
His first stop was the Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences, Bauchi, where he donated ₦10 million to support the training of healthcare professionals and boost the institution’s infrastructure.
At the Madrasatu Intisharul Islam Qismu Tahfizul Qur’an, an Almajiri school in Yelwa, Bauchi Local Government Area, Obi gave ₦5 million in recognition of the school’s blend of Qur’anic and formal education. He commended their efforts in providing basic education to Northern children and assured them of his continued support.
The former governor also met with the Student Union of Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, where he discussed the role of education in national development and encouraged students to remain steadfast in their studies.
Obi later paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, where they discussed issues of mutual interest regarding national development.
His final stop was Thomas Moore College of Health Sciences and Technology, Bauchi, where he donated another ₦10 million to help train more health professionals for community service.
Reaffirming his belief in human capital development, Obi said deliberate investments in education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation are key to building a better Nigeria.
