The Police Service Commission (PSC) has debunked reports circulating on social media claiming that recruitment for police officers for the year 2025 has commenced.
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 3, 2025, PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, **Ikechukwu Ani**, described the viral messages as *misleading and mischievous*, warning the public to disregard them.
According to the Commission, it has not begun the recruitment process and will only do so following established procedures and processes. “The Commission has not commenced this exercise and obviously will follow established procedures and processes when it is ready,” Ani stated.
The PSC expressed concern over what it described as repeated attempts by fraudsters to mislead and exploit unsuspecting Nigerians whenever recruitment preparations are underway. It called on security agencies to track and apprehend those behind the fake publications to protect the integrity of the recruitment process.
The Commission assured Nigerians that the official recruitment exercise, when announced, will be transparent, fair, and in line with laid-down rules and regulations. It further warned fraudsters to steer clear of PSC activities, stressing that anyone caught would face the full weight of the law.
