President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the extension of the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, by one year.
Mr. Adeniyi, whose tenure was due to expire on August 31, 2025, will now continue in office to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete key initiatives of the Tinubu administration. These include the modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service, the implementation of the National Single Window Project, and the execution of Nigeria’s commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
The President commended Adeniyi for his steadfast leadership and dedication to service, expressing confidence that the extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in fulfilling its core mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
