The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has once again earned national acclaim for its strides in strategic communication, as the National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, has been named among Nigeria’s top 50 PR professionals in the highly respected 2025 PR Power List.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in a joint publication by GLG Communications and The Guardian Newspaper.
The PR Power List is an annual ranking that celebrates public relations and communications professionals who are redefining the industry through innovation, influence, and measurable impact in Nigeria and across the diaspora. AC Maiwada was recognized under the Changemakers Category, which honours individuals who challenge the status quo and introduce bold, effective strategies in communication.
Reacting to the honour, AC Maiwada expressed gratitude, describing the recognition as a testament to the collective progress made within the Nigeria Customs Service in improving institutional communication.
“This recognition is deeply humbling,” he said. “It speaks to the Service’s commitment to modernising public engagement, enhancing transparency, and building public trust through effective storytelling and timely, accurate information dissemination.”
While acknowledging the personal honour, Maiwada attributed the success to teamwork and the forward-thinking leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
“I believe the greater credit goes to the team I work with and the visionary leadership of the Comptroller-General, whose reforms have empowered us to think differently, act boldly, and represent the Service with dignity and professionalism,” he added.
The Power List, signed by Oreani Ogbe, Managing Partner at GLG Communications, is categorised into Rising Voices, Community Impact, Changemakers, and Fourth Estate, highlighting diverse forms of influence across storytelling, ethics, media engagement, and strategic leadership.
The 2025 edition particularly applauded honourees like AC Maiwada for “shaping the future of public relations through bold moves, long-term experience, and impact-driven communication.”
Maiwada’s inclusion in the list not only reinforces the growing credibility of the Nigeria Customs Service in public communication but also reflects the agency’s commitment to professionalism, reform, and public accountability in line with its modernization agenda.
