The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, paid a condolence visit to the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 29 Squadron in Amansea, Awka, following the tragic loss of Inspector Okolie Amechi and the injury sustained by his son in a recent incident.
Addressing officers and men of the squadron, CP Orutugu expressed deep sympathy over the loss, emphasizing the critical need for strict adherence to police operational protocols, particularly in active duty situations. He described the Police Mobile Force as his alma mater and urged personnel to stay focused, united, and professional in the discharge of their responsibilities.
During the visit, the CP reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare and morale of officers and assured the Squadron of continuous support from the State Command.
In response, the Commander of PMF 29 Squadron, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nasiru Adamu Kaila, expressed appreciation for the CP’s visit and compassionate gesture. He pledged that the Squadron would fully comply with the CP’s guidance and continue to carry out their duties with diligence and discipline.
ACP Kaila further assured that his men remain committed to maintaining peace and security in their area of operation, despite the sorrowful moment.
The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by Assistant Commissioners of Police from the Departments of Administration, Investigation, and Operations, as well as other senior officers.
In a show of solidarity, CP Orutugu also presented a welfare package to the late officer’s family and offered prayers for the swift recovery of the injured son, who is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility.
The visit underscores the Commissioner’s dedication to empathetic policing and his resolve to uplift the morale of officers across the Anambra State Police Command.
