A 70-year-old man, Afolabi Michael, has been arrested in Lagos State, Nigeria, on charges of defiling an 11-year-old girl. The case was reported to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command on September 27, 2024.

According to the victim’s mother, the suspect abused her daughter multiple times during the summer break and after the school year resumed in 2024.

When questioned by police, Michael admitted to “romancing” the girl but denied having sexual intercourse with her, claiming that he had been suffering from erectile dysfunction for many years. Despite his denial, he was arrested and charged with defilement.
Michael was arraigned in court on October 10, 2024, and remanded into custody.
