The National Executive Council of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) has commenced a seven day executive retreat and familiarisation tour in Ghana, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening tourism partnerships, expanding travel opportunities and boosting intra African tourism between Nigeria and Ghana.
The delegation was received at Safari World Homes in Accra by the Chairman of the Safari World Group, Mr. Ernest Gyekye, who welcomed the Nigerian travel leaders and assured them of a memorable experience throughout their stay in Ghana.
Speaking on the significance of the visit, NANTA President, Mr. Yinka Folami, described the retreat as a practical step towards translating tourism policies into sustainable business opportunities that would benefit both countries.
According to Folami, the programme goes beyond recreation, stressing that it is designed to deepen collaboration between Nigerian and Ghanaian travel professionals while creating stronger commercial relationships across the African tourism landscape.
He noted that Nigeria and Ghana share longstanding cultural, historical and economic ties, adding that closer cooperation between stakeholders would unlock greater opportunities for tourism, business travel and regional integration.
The NANTA President explained that the association intends to expand its advocacy for Nigerian travel brands beyond the country’s borders by developing market driven partnerships capable of increasing tourist traffic between Accra and Lagos.
During the retreat, the executives will engage in business to business meetings with Ghanaian tourism operators, inspect major tourism facilities and participate in cultural exchange programmes aimed at promoting cross border travel and destination marketing.
The familiarisation tour will take the delegation through Safari World’s flagship destinations, including Safari Homes in Accra, Aqua Safari, Safari Island Cruise, Safari Nautica and Safari Recreation and Sports in Ada, as well as Safari Valley Eco Resort and Safari Eco Park in Dawu.
Safari World, which operates under the theme, One World, Three Destinations, Over 20 Unique Experiences, is leveraging the visit to strengthen its footprint in the Nigerian travel market while positioning Ghana as a preferred destination for leisure, conferences, family holidays and premium tourism experiences.
A major highlight of the visit will be the Executive Dinner scheduled for July 21 at Safari Valley Eco Resort, where leading tourism stakeholders from both countries are expected to explore new investment opportunities, strengthen bilateral travel cooperation and develop innovative tourism packages that will further enhance Nigeria Ghana travel relations.
