The Ogun State Police Command has decorated 430 newly promoted junior officers, reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to personnel welfare, career advancement and professional excellence.
The promotion exercise, which took place across the command headquarters and various police formations in Ogun State, was conducted under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.
The exercise followed the welfare focused reforms championed by the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at improving motivation and boosting operational efficiency within the Force.
A breakdown of the promotions showed that six Sergeants were elevated to the rank of Inspector, four Corporals advanced to the rank of Sergeant, while 420 Constables were promoted to the rank of Corporal.
Speaking during the decoration ceremony, Ojajuni described the promotions as a clear demonstration of the Inspector General’s commitment to recognising hard work, professionalism and dedication among police personnel.
He noted that regular promotion remains one of the most effective ways of strengthening morale, rewarding excellence and encouraging officers to remain focused on their constitutional duties.
The police commissioner congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to see their new ranks as a greater call to service, discipline and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He charged the officers to uphold the core values of the Force by maintaining integrity, respecting human rights and demonstrating unwavering commitment to the rule of law in all engagements with the public.
Ojajuni also stressed the importance of professionalism and ethical conduct, noting that the expectations of citizens increase with every promotion and advancement within the police hierarchy.
He further assured officers that the Ogun State Command would continue to prioritise personnel welfare and support initiatives designed to strengthen institutional capacity, improve operational effectiveness and promote quality service delivery in line with global policing standards.
According to a statement issued by DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, the promotion exercise reflects ongoing efforts by the police leadership to build a motivated workforce capable of meeting contemporary security challenges across the state and the country.
