The Nigeria Police Force has flatly rejected any association with a programme tagged “AFRIPOL 2026” currently circulating online, describing it as entirely unauthorized and urging Nigerians to steer clear.
Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, made this known in a press statement issued from Force Headquarters, Abuja, on behalf of the police high command.
The Force stated without equivocation that it neither approved, endorsed, nor authorised the said programme in any capacity whatsoever.
Police authorities also condemned what they described as the reckless and deliberate misuse of the AFRIPOL name, warning that the tag carries significant institutional weight globally.
AFRIPOL, the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation is a formal continental policing body established under the African Union framework and is not available for private exploitation.
The Force made clear that deploying the AFRIPOL brand for any unauthorised commercial or private programme amounts to institutional impersonation with serious implications.
Beyond the name, investigators noted that the promoters of the event went further, illegally attaching the image of the Inspector-General of Police to lend the programme a false air of official backing.
The official logo and corporate identity of the Nigeria Police Force were equally used without permission, a development the Force described as a brazen breach of institutional integrity.
Police leadership has since distanced itself entirely from the event and from anyone promoting it, stressing that no officer or unit of the Force gave the programme any form of clearance.
Members of the public are strongly advised to treat the publication as fraudulent and to have nothing to do with it in any form.
Corporate organisations, potential sponsors, and individuals are specifically warned against making payments, entering agreements, or attending any event linked to the so-called AFRIPOL 2026 programme.
The Force assured Nigerians that investigations are ongoing and called on anyone with information about the promoters to report same to the nearest police station or contact Force Headquarters in Abuja.
