Mobereola Celebrates Maritime Workers Day As NIMASA Reaffirms Commitment To Safety Dignity, Productivity

The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dr Dayo Mobereola, has extended warm felicitations to maritime stakeholders across the country on the occasion of the 2026 Workers Day, commending their resilience and contributions to national development.

In a statement issued by the agency’s Head of Public Relations, Osagie Edward, the NIMASA boss acknowledged the critical role played by seafarers, dockworkers, regulators and other industry operators in sustaining Nigeria’s maritime economy.

Mobereola praised the passion, discipline and professionalism of workers in the sector, noting that their daily efforts continue to strengthen the nation’s position within the global maritime space.

He said the commitment demonstrated by stakeholders remains a cornerstone for growth, efficiency and stability in an industry that is vital to trade facilitation and economic expansion.

The NIMASA chief described Workers Day as an important moment to reflect on the value of labour and the need to continually improve working conditions across the maritime ecosystem.

According to him, the agency remains steadfast in its responsibility as a regulator, ensuring that maritime labour practices align with international standards and national regulations.

Mobereola stressed that NIMASA will continue to prioritise policies and initiatives that protect workers’ rights while enhancing operational productivity within the sector.

He further linked the agency’s mandate to the theme of the 2026 Workers Day, which emphasises safety, dignity and productivity, noting that these pillars are essential for sustainable industry growth.

The Director General also expressed appreciation to officers and stakeholders whose dedication and expertise drive daily operations, describing their contributions as invaluable to the sector’s progress.

He reaffirmed NIMASA’s commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive and efficient maritime environment that supports workers and advances Nigeria’s blue economy objectives.
