In a decisive move that underscores its commitment to inclusive growth, Fidelity Bank Plc has extended its “Give Her Power” initiative to Ogun State, equipping 100 women with vocational tools to strengthen their economic independence and improve household incomes.
The intervention, which forms part of a nationwide rollout, signals a deliberate shift from policy rhetoric to practical empowerment, targeting women at the grassroots level with tools capable of transforming livelihoods.
Unveiled earlier in March to commemorate International Women’s Day 2026, the initiative has continued to gather momentum, driven by strategic partnerships and a clear focus on sustainable impact.
At the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, the bank distributed 50 sewing machines and 50 grinding machines to women engaged in microenterprises, drawing a cross section of stakeholders, including market leaders and government officials.
Among dignitaries present was the Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye Oladapo, whose attendance reinforced the state’s alignment with private sector driven empowerment efforts.
Speaking at the event, Regional Bank Head, Southwest 1, Folaranmi Jemirin, said the outreach reflects the bank’s resolve to deliver measurable and sustainable empowerment programmes across communities.
He noted that empowering women economically creates a ripple effect that benefits families, strengthens businesses and ultimately drives community development, describing the Abeokuta intervention as a continuation of the initiative’s strong national rollout.
According to him, the programme is anchored on the bank’s HerFidelity platform, a women focused proposition offering financial literacy, mentorship, vocational training and wellness support tailored to women led enterprises.
Jemirin further disclosed that the bank has scaled its interventions nationwide, with the distribution of over 1,000 vocational tools, alongside apprenticeship programmes, mentorship engagements and financial literacy sessions aimed at deepening women’s participation in the economy.
Also speaking, Adeleye Oladapo described the initiative as a shift from symbolic gestures to tangible empowerment, commending the bank for complementing the efforts of Governor Dapo Abiodun in advancing women’s economic inclusion while urging beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity for lasting impact.
