The Ogun State Police Command has entered a new chapter with the assumption of duty of its 38th Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, whose arrival signals a steady but firm shift in leadership direction.

His deployment, approved by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, places a seasoned and widely travelled officer at the helm of a command critical to the nation’s security architecture.

Born on April 3, 1970, in Ondo State, Ojajuni joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1996 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has since built a career defined by discipline, intellect and strategic foresight.

Armed with degrees in History Education and Law, alongside a Master’s in International Relations and Strategic Studies, he is also advancing academic frontiers as a doctoral candidate.

With three decades of service, the new commissioner brings a blend of operational depth, investigative strength and administrative competence, reinforced by a reputation for integrity and an open-door leadership style.

Before this appointment, he served as Commissioner of Police at INTERPOL’s Nigeria National Central Bureau in Lagos, where he led decisive actions against transnational criminal networks.

His earlier stint as Deputy Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ogun State saw him play a critical role in tackling violent crime and strengthening investigative frameworks.

Ojajuni also served as Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of Police between 2017 and 2019, a position that exposed him to high-level policy and operational coordination.

In Lagos, his leadership as Area Commander of Area “A” Command earned him the Area Commander of the Year Award in 2021, while his tenure as Police Public Relations Officer helped reshape public perception of the Force.

His extensive field experience spans multiple Mobile Police Force squadrons across Ikeja, Epe, Asaba and Abeokuta, as well as strategic assignments including anti-fraud operations, border patrol command and petroleum task force leadership.

An active player on the global stage, Ojajuni sits on the INTERPOL African Committee and has represented Nigeria at major international security summits and assemblies, strengthening cross-border crime-fighting collaboration.

His exposure includes specialised training programmes in the United States, Singapore, Israel and Europe, alongside professional courses at INTERPOL headquarters in Lyon, sharpening his expertise in intelligence and global policing.

Notably, he has facilitated the repatriation of high-profile fugitives across jurisdictions, underscoring his effectiveness in international law enforcement cooperation.

In March 2026, he was entrusted by the Inspector-General of Police with a key national assignment as Secretary to the Steering Committee on the Establishment of State Police, further affirming institutional confidence in his capabilities.

A recipient of multiple honours, including the African Nations Builders Award and recognitions from professional and academic bodies, Ojajuni combines experience with a clear commitment to service.

Married with children, he now assumes leadership in Ogun State with a pledge to uphold professionalism, accountability and community-focused policing at a time when public trust remains paramount.
