Renowned philanthropist and community leader, Alhaji Monsur Ayoade Ejide, has intensified his investment in Nigeria’s education sector with the donation of multi-million naira equipment to the Psychology Department of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.

The latest intervention underscores Ejide’s growing footprint in educational development, with a clear focus on strengthening research capacity, practical learning, and institutional growth in tertiary institutions.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Ejide said the donation was driven by his commitment to advancing education and empowering young Nigerians through improved learning environments. He noted that equipping the Psychology Laboratory would not only enhance teaching but also expand research opportunities for both students and faculty.

“This intervention is part of a deliberate effort to contribute meaningfully to academic excellence and human capital development,” he said, adding that he remains committed to sustaining support for the department and extending similar initiatives across the university.

Ejide’s gesture has drawn attention within academic and development circles, with stakeholders likening his efforts to those of notable Nigerian philanthropists who have historically supported education and capacity building.

At the ceremony, Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, commended Ejide for what he described as a strategic and impactful contribution. He noted that the equipment would significantly improve the department’s capacity for training and research, ultimately benefiting students.

The event also had in attendance the Head of Department, Dr. Olufunmilayo Adedoyin Oyinlola; the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Professor Frank Ebijuwa; and other stakeholders.

Industry observers note that Ejide’s sustained interventions reflect a broader trend of increased private sector participation in addressing infrastructural and capacity gaps in Nigeria’s education sector.

The philanthropist had earlier donated a multimillion-naira bakery facility to the university, further reinforcing his commitment to skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development among students.
