The Tin-Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded an unprecedented revenue collection of ₦16,411,402,227.27 in a single day—Tuesday, August 19, 2025 thanks to the successful deployment of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), popularly known as Bodogwu.
This landmark achievement was announced in a press statement released on Thursday in Lagos by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs Oscar Ivara.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, described the development as a clear demonstration of the transformative power of technology in streamlining port operations. He credited the Bodogwu system for significantly enhancing operational efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness across the Command.
According to Comptroller Onyeka, the platform has greatly simplified access for licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders, allowing them to complete payments and cargo clearance in real time free from delays and administrative hurdles.
He explained that the Bodogwu system integrates all key components of port and Customs operations into a single digital interface. This has resulted in faster processing times, more accurate cargo valuation, and improved monitoring and compliance, ultimately fostering a more predictable and business-friendly environment.
Highlighting the broader implications of the record-setting revenue, Comptroller Onyeka emphasized that the success goes beyond financial figures. “This is a clear win for technological efficiency and collaboration,” he said, noting that the accomplishment underscores the strategic importance of sustained cooperation with terminal operators, shipping lines, licensed Customs agents, and other regulatory bodies.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to facilitating trade, safeguarding national revenue, and ensuring that all port users benefit from timely, efficient, and cost-effective cargo clearance procedures.
